Haymarket Memorial by Mary Brogger

Mayor Richard M. Daley commissioned a sculpture that was unveiled near the historic site of Haymarket Square in 2004 to honor the right to free speech. Designed by Mary Brogger, the statue displays plaques from local labor organizations including the police union. Pictured here are labor activist Mollie Lieber West and Les Orear, one of the founders and president of the Illinois Labor History Society.
